Siam Center
Overview
Siam Center (สยามเซ็นเตอร์) is Bangkok’s original fashion mall — Thailand’s first international-standard shopping center when it opened on 29 January 1973. Owned and operated by Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., it underwent a comprehensive THB 1.8 billion (~US$60 million) renovation in 2013, reopening as “The Ideaopolis” — an arena of creativity without limits in art, fashion, technology, and lifestyle. The renovation earned 9 international awards, including the ICSC Gold Award for Design and Development Excellence.
Today, Siam Center is Bangkok’s undisputed Thai designer fashion hub and sneaker culture destination. The “Absolute Siam” concept houses the city’s largest curated collection of Thai designer brands under one roof, while international sportswear flagships — including Thailand’s largest Nike store with Nike By You customization — make it a magnet for fashion-forward shoppers.
For medical tourists, Siam Center is the most compact and manageable of the three OneSiam malls at approximately 40,000 square meters across just 4 retail levels, directly accessible via enclosed BTS skywalk from Siam station. Bumrungrad International Hospital is only 2–3 BTS stops away on the Sukhumvit Line.

| Cash (Thai Baht) | All stores |
| QR code payments (PromptPay) | Widely accepted |

For best value, get the free ONESIAM Global Visitor Card first (up to 80% off at participating brands). Seasonal sales in June/July and December/January offer significant discounts.
Scam Awareness
| Risk | Advice |
|---|---|
| Gem shop touts in Siam area | Unofficial “guides” may approach you near the BTS station claiming a nearby temple or government building has a “special gem sale today” — this is a classic Bangkok scam. Politely decline. |
| Transport pricing | Use the Grab app or metered taxis for fair pricing when departing |
| Pickpocketing | Low risk inside the mall; moderate vigilance on BTS Siam station during rush hours |
| Counterfeit goods | Not an issue — Siam Center sells genuine, authorized products only |
Weather Considerations
Bangkok averages 33°C (91°F) year-round. Siam Center is fully air-conditioned, and the BTS skywalk provides covered, weather-proof access from the train station.
Rainy season (June–October): No impact on your mall visit. The BTS and enclosed skywalk provide reliable, dry access. The outdoor skywalk to Siam Paragon may have brief open-air sections.
Cultural Tips
- Siam Center’s trendy atmosphere is relaxed — dress comfortably in casual attire
- Thai people appreciate politeness and wai greetings (hands pressed together with a slight nod)
- The Absolute Siam concept celebrates Thai creativity — exploring the 1st Floor is a respectful way to appreciate Thai design culture
